Our lineup of meditation benches are the roots of the Amargosa Studio. Each bench is crafted from a unique material to match your home's aesthetic or suit your personal taste. From the beginning of the design process, we knew that the final product had to be beautiful to look at in its kneeling and carrying position, and the mechanism by which the bench could be stored and carried had to be simple to use and uncompromising on the primary function of the bench.
The River Bench
The River Bench is Amargosa Studio's signature product. This bench is offered in both walnut and maple, and features an engraving of the Amargosa River - a seasonal river that runs through the desert and inspired the bench in its design and its purpose.
All River Benches feature dual seating options: place the bench legs in the outside slots for a narrow stance with knees close together, or the inside slots to allow an open stance with knees apart. Both seating positions were carefully crafted to optimize the comfort and spinal posture of the user. The bench is designed with your physical and mental wellbeing in mind.
The most popular material choice of our benches is by far the walnut. The rich grain and dark color lends more subtlety to the engraved details. Walnut offers a great contrast to light colored interiors, but also matches well with darker home design schemes. The character of the wood is very unique with stretches of long straight grain mixing gently with nearby marbled knots.

The maple River Bench, aside from the obvious difference in color, has a much tighter wood grain that sands to a smoother, softer finish, giving this bench an immaculate feeling in the hand. The curling grains and slight variations in the tone of the wood highlight the clean lines of the bench in a way only maple can.

Hex-Ply
Our Hex-Ply bench products offer the same seating positions and design as the River Meditation Benches, but with slight modifications to accommodate the new material. We built these to be used in yoga studios or for guided meditation classes. This requires a material that has a strong composition while still remaining easy to clean. The Hex-Ply bench is faced with a naturally antimicrobial finish on both sides, and the laminated wood core is strong and stable.
